    1. Gozo Blue Hole, Fungus Rock and Inland Sea: Basics

This is also the area where the once famous Azure Window was located.

You can visit these places in any order.

Inland Sea is the nearest one to the bus stop, and also the easiest to get to. It’s a lagoon of seawater where you can go swimming, kayaking or diving. If you take a kayak and go through the 80-meter long cave, you’ll end up in the open sea. But it’s also nice to just go swimming there. The place is pretty small and thus can get crowded.

Fungus Rock is a big rock formation next to a beautiful lagoon.

You only have to follow the coast to get there.

Blue Hole is a deep natural pool hidden behind the rocks.

You may have to walk through water to get there. But, again, it’s not a very secret place anymore, and you won’t have any problems finding it. Because most likely there will be other people looking for it at the same time, or going or coming back from it. If you have, bring your own snorkeling mask, to see the place from a different angle than most, who come only for swimming or cliff jumping.

    2. How to Get to Gozo From Malta?

    Ramla Beach in Gozo, Malta

Getting from Malta to Gozo island is extremely easy.

There are direct ferries from Malta to Gozo.

We took the fast ferry to Gozo (from Valleta), as it was included in our Explore Flex transport pass. By the way, most of tourists in Malta buys some sort of travel pass. It just makes getting around in Malta and Gozo so much easier. This Gozo ferry takes less than one hour to reach Gozo from Valleta, and a return ticket normally costs around 10 EUR. See the timetable on their Facebook page.

In September the last ferry from Gozo to Valleta was at around midnight. That’s super cool if you are going only on a day trip from Malta, because you can spend a whole day exploring the island of Gozo.

    There are also other options.

2.1 How to Get to Gozo Blue Hole?

There are public buses on Gozo. Same like on Malta.

They run more or less everywhere, and all tourists use them.

For example, we use Google Maps to find the best bus in our situation. You can do the same. Most likely you’ll have to change bus once to get to Blue Hole, depending from where will you be coming. We came from Ramla beach and had to change bus once.

    3. Fungus Rock, Inland Sea, Blue Hole – Gozo: Our Experience

    What surprised us the most?

Just how beautiful this whole area is.

You get off the bus, and in whatever direction you go, it’s all very pretty and so picture-perfect. The cliffs on this side and on that side, the rock formations, the blue hole and the Gozo inland sea. We didn’t have any snorkeling equipment with us and we didn’t rent anything. We just went for a swim in the inland sea and the Blue hole, and simply enjoyed this beautiful place.

If you love being in nature, and you love beautiful views – this is the place for you to visit in Gozo, Malta. Take into account that not everywhere you can walk here, though. There are some supposedly dangerous areas that are closed for visitors.
