Here’s my KÜHL ENGINEERED women’s hoodie review.
Even though KÜHL ENGINEERED is a hoodie, it’s not your usual bulky hoodie with soft and somewhat fuzzy lining. Designed for warm summer weather, it is crafted of lightweight and breathable material with sun protection. It’s a light hoodie you could wear when hiking in the woods, going on long walks on a warm and sunny day, or when cycling or kayaking — it works for all kinds of outdoor activities.

This women’s hoodie is perfect for hiking and other outdoor activities.
Being lightweight, and featuring ample ventilation, the hoodie is suitable for warm weather.
KÜHL ENGINEERED women’s hoodie is made of stretchy, lightweight fabric (100% Polyester 140 GSM + 100% Polyester 125 GSM). The hoodie features strategically placed mesh venting for supreme breathability and comfort. Also, it’s a sun protection shirt. Areas with the most sun exposure has UPF 30+ sun protection, whereas high sweat areas offers 20+ UPF protection. The hoodie has a large pocket at the front, and thumb holes at the cuffs.
The hoodie will keep you warm during the cool mornings (and evenings), and will keep you dry once it warms up later in the day.

KÜHL ENGINEERED Women’s Hoody Review
1. It’s Lightweight
KÜHL ENGINEERED is a 140 GSM lightweight hoodie.
GSM stands for grams per square metre. It is used to describe the weight of a fabric.
To put it simply, the higher this number the denser the fabric. If the GSM is 200 or 220, it’s gonna be a very warm shirt. You shouldn’t expect the same warmth from an ultra-light 150 GSM shirt.
As you can see, KÜHL ENGINEERED has a GSM of 140. This means that it’s an ultra-light shirt, perfect for warm weather – summer, late spring and early autumn. However, as lightweight as it is, the material will keep you pleasantly warm during the cool mornings, and cool and dry during the day.
The lightweight material feels nice on the skin. It’s pleasant to the touch, too.
2. It’s Warm
When I first put it on, I was surprised that it feels so warm!
I really didn’t expect that as the hoodie looked really thin, and it’s material felt quite cool.
But its look is deceiving. Even though this KÜHL hoodie is crafted of really thin and lightweight material, it’s definitely doesn’t feel cold on the skin. In fact, as soon as you put the hoodie on, you start to feel toasty.
I found it really nice during the cool summer mornings (we have those in Latvia) when the hoodie keeps you warm and comfy until the weather warms up later in the day. When the sun is shining, the hoodie will keep you cool and dry due to its lightweight and breathable material. Strategically placed ventilation offers great breathability.
Keep in mind that this hoodie is suited for warm weather. It’s perfect for summer, late spring and early autumn. If you are looking for something for your winter adventures, this won’t really be a good option, as it’s not warm enough (it is only 140 GSM). Unless you wear it as a base layer.
3. It’s Breathable
Despite being quite warm, it doesn’t feel oppressive.
It is because the hoodie offers amazing ventilation.
The fabric is very light with tiny holes throughout the surface in order to let the air pass through. The hood is made of the same lightweight breathable material. However, it’s a bit thicker in the hood.
High sweat areas (e.g., the armpits and the sides) has mesh venting for extra comfort.
4. It Offers Sun Protection
As I’ve already mentioned, it’s a sun protection shirt.
KÜHL ENGINEERED hoodie’s fabric with sun protection will effectively protect you against damaging sun rays.
It protects from the sun also high sweat areas.
Areas with the most sun exposure has UPF 30+ sun protection, whereas high sweat areas offers 20+ UPF protection.
5. It Has Some Very Nice Features
The hoodie has a large pocket at the front, and thumb holes at the cuffs.
I was happy to discover that the hood is quite big. It’s large enough to put over my cap, and it doesn’t feel tight. Several sports hoodies I’ve had had ridiculously small hoods. Luckily, this is not the case with KÜHL ENGINEERED hoodie.
6. It’s Pretty
Last, but not least, it’s pretty.
Yes, I admit that it’s one of the most important factors when choosing sports and outdoor clothing. Sports and outdoor clothing not only has to be functional, but also has to look good. If it’s not, you are not looking forward to use it.
I love the color. I love the design and features. The KÜHL ENGINEERED comes in 4 colors: dark red, peach, light grey and black. All of these color options look pretty and smart. My hoodie is in dark red which is a rich yet unobtrusive color.
The hoodie has a slim fit, which is very important to me. At the same time it doesn’t feel tight.
Is There Something I Don’t Like?
No, not really.
However, I would have loved zippers on the “kangaroo” front pocket. So, that I can store something in there safely. Otherwise it’s really easy for things to fall out while you move.
