- Fly to Hurghada from Europe. The best way to get to Hurghada is by air. Both charter and scheduled flights operate from many European airports to Hurghada. If you want to fly to Hurghada cheaply, check out flights from London, Berlin, Hamburg, Milan, Naples, Rome, Venice, Geneva, Amsterdam or Istanbul. A number of low-cost airlines like Wizz Air, easyJet, Transavia, Pegasus operate flights to Hurghada from these cities.
- It can get cool in Hurghada. If you are traveling to Hurghada during the colder months, pack a jacket and jeans. It can get cold in the evenings.
- Cairo, and the pyramids, is far away. Hurghada is located some 470 km from Cairo. If you are planning on visiting the Pyramids, be prepared for a long day trip, even if you fly.
- Stay in Cairo for 2 or 3 days. If you’re interested in Cairo, we would recommend you to do a multi-day trip to Cairo. Fly from Hurghada to Cairo and stay there at least 2-3 days. Cairo has plenty of amazing historical landmarks and museums. In our opinion, half a day in Cairo is not enough. Here is a list of Cairo excursions.
- Luxor is another great place to visit. As it’s quite far from Hurghada, we would recommend you to go there for at least a couple of days. Day trips from Hurghada to Luxor may be exhausting due to their length.
- Choose a reliable dive centre. If you are planning to dive in Hurghada, make sure the local dive centre and the tour guide selling diving excursions is trustworthy and experienced.
- Know what to wear. If you are visiting Hurghada City, dress modestly. Yes, you can wear shorts, sundresses and bikini on a beach in Egypt, but for a visit to a city pack something more modest such as a long-sleeve dress that covers your knees, or lightweight pants, a loose T-shirt and a cardigan. If you’re planning to visit religious sites, don’t forget to pack a shawl. Men also should wear clothes that cover knees and shoulders.
