There are two lakes in Tbilisi.

One that most people know is the Tbilisi Reservoir, also known as the Tbilisi sea. But there’s also another one, much closer to the city center, and it’s called Lisi lake. It’s much smaller. And if you want to go on walk, bicycle ride or to do some exercising, it’s also much better — because there’s a nice walkway all the way around Lisi lake.

    1. Walking Around Lisi Lake, Tbilisi: Basics

Where to go on a nice and relaxing walk in Tbilisi? Check out this place!

But if you want to go on a more adventurous walk, then the Tbilisi sea hike is for you. Plus you can visit the epic Chronicle of Georgia there as well. Alternatively, check out the trails near Turtle lake, or other mountain trails near Tbilisi. There are also a plenty of cool day trips from Tbilisi.

    MY ROUTE:

TIME & DISTANCE: starting from 2 miles / 3.2 km (less than 1 hour).

You can do two, three or more laps, and make the total distance bigger. Or you can do like we did, and walk back to the city. However, it isn’t a walk I would recommend (back to the city). Because you will walk on the side of the road in a few places, which is, well, walking on the side of the road — nothing very exciting.

TIPS: this place gets busy around the time of the sunset, take that into account. Local people go to Lisi lake to exercise, and to spend time with their friends and loved ones.

    2. How to Get to Lisi Lake?

Taxi is the most convenient option.

In Tbilisi we use and recommend Bolt and Yandex taxi apps.

But take into account that it might be hard to get taxi during the peak-hours, when Tbilisi traffic is, frankly, quite terrible. During these hours, and if you are really far away, you may want to try and get on the metro to cover some distance, and then to change to taxi — this is how I would do.

    3. Lisi Lake Walk: Our Experience

It was a warm and sunny June day in Tbilisi.

We jumped in taxi and went on a sunset walk around Lisi lake.
