Have you ever heard of the Chronicle of Georgia?
I hadn’t. Until we were in Tbilisi, Georgia. It was spring 2021, we were looking on a map of the area of Tbilisi. We noticed the Tbilisi sea, a huge lake, we thought we could go on a hike to (we did go on the Tbilisi sea hike). And there was the Chronicle of Georgia, a place commonly called the Stonehenge of Georgia. We thought we could check it out, as it looked like a popular place to visit in Tbilisi. Luckily so, because this place is awesome!

Chronicle of Georgia (the Stonehenge of Georgia): Basics
This place is impressive, and it’s visible from the distance.
Once you are somewhere near the Tbilisi sea (the Tbilisi reservoir), most likely you can see the Chronicle of Georgia, these huge columns on top of a hill.
LOCATION:
DISTANCE (from the city center): around 6 miles / 9.6 km
ENTRANCE: free
TIPS: the easiest way to get to the Chronicle of Georgia is by taxi. We recommend Bolt and Yandex taxi apps. We usually use both and compare the price before the ride. It’s a great place to watch sunset in Tbilisi!
Chronicle of Georgia: Our Experience
Our plan was to go on a hike there, and so we did.
We just took a taxi to some random point we had chosen, and started walking back — all the way until this beautiful moment, the Chronicle of Georgia. After an hour, or maybe two, of exploring the monument we took a taxi back to the city. It might be a problem to get taxi to the starting point of our hike, as it’s quite far from the city center and anything in general. But it wasn’t a problem to get a taxi to this monument.
Here are a few photos from the Chronicle of Georgia:

And if you like Soviet architecture, you will love this view (below).
I genuinely loved it as much as the view of the Tbilisi sea and the monument itself. Because it shows you a completely different face of Tbilisi, something you don’t really see in the city center — something new to explore.

Have you been to Tbilisi? Did you go to the Chronicle of Georgia? Did you try hiking near the Tbilisi sea or somewhere else in Tbilisi or Georgia? What was your experience?
