Tbilisi Sea hike is awesome.
This hike was truly one of our best random discoveries in Tbilisi. Well, technically there are no any hiking trails going around the Tbilisi sea, and we also didn’t go all the way around the lake. We just took a taxi to some point, and walked…. to the impressive monument of the Chronicle of Georgia. It was a beautiful walk I can highly recommend.

1. Tbilisi Sea Hike: Basics
It’s a very, very beautiful walk, only there’s no one trail.
Accordingly in some places you either have to walk on the road or go through the bushes as we did in a few places — just to more or less follow the coastline.
MY ROUTE:
TIME & DISTANCE: around 6 miles / 9.6 km (around 2 hours).
TIPS: there’s no one trail, and while for most part you are on a relaxed walk in the nature, there are some places where you have to walk on the side of the road or through the bushes. If you don’t want to walk through the bushes at all, walk on the road.
2. How to Get to the Tbilisi Sea?

Taxi is your by far best option to get there.
In Tbilisi we use and recommend Bolt and Yandex taxi apps. However, I wouldn’t rely on getting the taxi to pick me up from any point near the Tbilisi sea. I would always be prepared to walk a few kilometers in case there are no nearby taxis.
3. Tbilisi Sea Hike: Our Experience
At first we went on the Turtle lake hike.
From there we noticed that there’s some big lake or something on the other side of Tbilisi. We checked the map, found out about the Tbilisi sea, and… just went. As always. We just choose some point on the map, which didn’t look like too far away from our destination in the area, the Chronicle of Georgia, and we just went.
It ended up being not the best place to start a hike.
We had to walk a bit on the side of the road at first.
But, apart from that, it was a super cool experience. Well, and apart from these bushes we had to get through in a couple of places. Apart from all that, it was a truly beautiful experience. The Tbilisi sea is beautiful! And it can be very windy there!
