There are many beautiful viewpoints and hikes in Tbilisi.
Mtatsminda Pantheon is one of the easiest to get to. You can go by car or taxi there, walk a bit, and enjoy beautiful view of Tbilisi from above. If you walk further, you can get to the Mtatsminda Park, go on a cool ferris wheel ride or hike further to even higher spots in the area of the Turtle lake — there are a lot of options.

Mtatsminda Pantheon Viewpoint: Basics
Mtatsminda Pantheon is a necropolis in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Some of the most prominent people in the history of Georgia, national heroes of Georgia, are buried there. Apart from that, it’s also a beautiful place for a peaceful walk in Tbilisi, near the city center. Both locals and tourists visit this place.
LOCATION:
DISTANCE (from Freedom square): 2 miles / 3.2 km
That’s in total — going there from the Freedom square and back.
TIPS: you will have to walk the stairs. You can walk up to the top of the mountain and then take Tbilisi Funicular to get back to the city. If you plan to go on a longer hike in Tbilisi, after you reach Mtatsminda Park follow the road for some 5-10 minutes and look for a trail on the right side of the road. This trail will take you to the Turtle lake.

For me, Tbilisi was love at first sight.
In 2021 we spent 6 weeks exploring Tbilisi, and this spot was just one of the many findings. Who knew there are so many beautiful walking and hiking options in Tbilisi, and near the city? To be honest, I didn’t know there are any mountains near Tbilisi at all, until we arrived to the city and saw our new home for the next weeks for the first time.
